Since Yvonne has lived abroad for 15+ years (Turkey and now Ecuador) we have often gone longer periods of time in between when we siblings could all be together. We spent more time together than usual in 2016 because of our mom's illness and death. We didn't know it at the time, but our dad's wedding in August 2017 was the last time we four siblings were together here on earth. Up until yesterday, the last time we three sisters were together was our brother's funeral in March 2019. Once I found out that Wendy was planning to drive here on July 3 with Grace, I called Yvonne and asked if she might be able to come up here at some point while Wendy was here. She said the only day they were free to travel to our home was July 4. Wendy and Grace arrived here on Sunday evening, and Nadia and Wendy drove to the airport to pick up Rachel last night. Nine of the Towfighis (all but Andrew) were at our home for seven hours yesterday. In the morning, Wendy, Ian, Oliver, Grace, and I attended a parade in our town. The kids enjoyed came home with a lot of candy. After the parade, I took Grace, Oliver, Julianna, Nathan, Nadia, and Joshua to a blueberry farm near our home. The youngest three picked FAR more blueberries than the older three did. Many blueberries went into their mouths while we were picking them, and we brought home about 8.5 pounds of blueberries.
After we got home from picking berries, Paul grilled burgers, veggie burgers, and hotdogs while I cooked corn on the cob, put blueberries on the fruit pizza, etc. After lunch, Wendy, Yvonne, Jenna, and I went for an approximately 5-mile walk. Seven of us played Codenames together before we ate another meal together. After dinner, we took some pictures before the Towfighis left. I wish with all my heart I had a nice photo of myself with my three siblings. I'm trying to learn from my mistake, so I wanted to be sure we got a picture of we three sisters. Although I enjoy fireworks far more than Paul does, I opted to head to bed early last night. Paul took Grace, Ian, and Oliver to our town's fireworks last night. I do plan to see fireworks at our church this Saturday evening. We are looking forward to having more time to spend with Grace, Wendy, and Rachel over the next few days.
Nadia attended training on Friday morning to be a counselor with Camp Good News (CEF). She's going to spend almost three consecutive weeks away from home as she will be in Maryland with her cousins from July 16-23, a counselor at overnight camp from July 24-30, and attend Camp Susque as a camper from July 30- August 6! Over those three weeks, we will see her for about 24 hours in between the trip to Maryland and the first camp, and we'll see her for about 7 hours in between the two camps on July 30.
Nadia and Ian's theatre camp presented Beauty and the Beast last Friday night. The show was about 30 minutes long. I sat in the first row, so I didn't have trouble hearing, but Paul, Pop Pop, and Oliver were sitting farther back and had a harder time hearing some of it because they didn't use microphones. Although Ian wasn't too thrilled when he found out that I had signed him up for this camp, he had a blast and already asked if he can do it again next year. He had two parts and did a great job with his French accent when he played the part of Henri. Macey and her mom also came to the show, which was very sweet of them. Next week, all three kids will be in a theatre camp at a church in the mornings, and the Towfighis plus Jenna's boyfriend are planning to attend their show on July 15. Then we will take a break from participation in dramatic productions until Nadia's drama class at the homeschool co-op resumes in January.
