Birthday Interview

Oliver turned eight 12 days ago. He had his annual physical this morning; I recorded his birthday interview before we left for his appointment. In July I was given grief for bringing all three kids to Nadia's annual appointment, but this time I left Nadia and Ian at home for 90 minutes while we went to the Pediatrician's office and the library. Ian has a cough so there was NO way I was taking him with me given everyone's fears about COVID-19. Paul is at work now, but he'll be coming home very early as he has an EMG at the hospital that is very close to the Pediatrician's office. Last August he weighed 56 pounds (75th percentile) and today he weighs 55 1/2 pounds (44th percentile). Last year he was 49 inches tall (68th percentile), and today with flip flops on he was 52 inches tall (75th percentile). This makes me think that sometime in 2021 he should hit 54 inches, which is the number needed to be able to ride ANY ride. From August 2018- August 2019 he gained 11 pounds and grew three inches. This past year he again grew 3 inches, but this time he didn't gain any weight, which caused his BMI to drop to the 16th percentile. He's still on track to be our tallest child. Time will tell! He passed his hearing screening, and he also passed his vision screening even though he wasn't wearing his glasses. He's been telling me he doesn't need to wear his glasses, and it seems he's correct. Considering it's much more challenging to take pictures of someone with eyeglasses on, I am happy that he doesn't need glasses at this point in time. Ian does need them, primarily for reading, and Nadia has never needed glasses.
