Thankful Thursday

 

1. We attended Milo's second session of puppy kindergarten last Thursday. We learned how to brush his teeth and pluck the hairs from inside his ears. Milo loves the "puppy ping pong" game they suggested we use to teach him the "come" command.

2. The kids have been enjoying the 13 inches of snow we got earlier this week. The snow meant Paul got a two day weekend, which is a rare treat. His vehicle ended up in a snow bank on Tuesday morning on his way to work. Thankfully he wasn't injured, his car wasn't damaged, and two young men nearby loaned him a shovel and also assisted him with digging out his car. He had left his phone at work the previous Saturday so he couldn't have called anyone to ask for help. 

3. I had lunch with my friend on Friday. I frequently had lunch with a friend in the past, but that's been a very rare treat over the past 12.5 years. I greatly appreciated that Tab allowed my kids to play with hers at her house while I had lunch with Cheri.

4. Nadia participated in a Bible quizzing event at church for 6 hours on Saturday. I'm thankful

she is spending so much time spending the book of Matthew this year.

5. We enjoyed watching a free broadcast of Sight and Sound's production Noah. We had seen it in person in 2013. It's much better in person, but it's MUCH cheaper on TV and also doesn't involve 4 hours of driving (round trip). 

6. Although some people liked some of the new recipes that I tried over the past ten days (ex. Oliver loved the flan), we found two new recipes that everyone liked to add to our rotation - creamy garlic chicken penne and acharuli khachapuri. In fact, we liked the recipe from the country of Georgia so much that I'm planning on making it again in the near future even though in general the plan is that we wait at least 4 months before restarting the meal rotation. 

7. Milo looks so cute! We took him to the groomer yesterday. He got a "D" on his report card because evidently he didn't stay still when they were brushing and combing him. He smelled SO nice, and his fur was SO soft. They recommended we bring him back in 6 weeks. Oh my goodness that would mean we'd end up spending about $500 a year if we took him to the groomer that often! I have no idea when we'll take him to a groomer again. I've ordered forceps, ear powder, and dog clippers in the hopes that I can do his grooming myself. I've never paid as much as I paid today for any hair appointment for myself, and I already give Paul, Ian, and Oliver their haircuts. It was easier to fold laundry and such while he was at the groomer.
