I Scream;

you scream; we all scream for ice cream! Thankfully Nadia doesn't actually scream for it, but she does request "ice" (meaning ice cream) all the time these days. When I put her in her high chair for lunch or dinner, the first word she says is "ice," not that I have ever given her ice cream before she ate a meal! Today at the grocery store when we were in the freezer section, she spotted the ice cream containers and was excitedly saying "ice." Our first "battle of the wills" was over chocolate chip cookies rather than ice cream. I baked 3 dozen cookies on Friday, and yesterday she was insisting on eating a cookie before her lunch. She cried quite a bit, but that didn't persuade me to give her a cookie first. I moved the cookies out of her sight (put them on top of the refrigerator), and lunch went much more smoothly later that day. Speaking of "lunch," that's one of her new words along with "eye." She'll say "eye" when she sees one in a book.

Her attention span for reading books is thankfully expanding these days. Awhile ago she used to have a long attention span for books, but the past few months it's been very short. She likes to have us point out objects in the books rather than reading the text, and her favorite book at the moment is God Made Me.


She wouldn't take a nap this morning. I hope this was a fluke as we had gotten back into a two nap routine. I hope she takes a nice afternoon nap to compensate. I know she's tired as at 11am she fell asleep for a couple of minutes on the way back from the grocery store.
