Yesterday I set up the pack and play in our walk-in closet, which is in the master bathroom. Even though they were done with Nadia and Ian's light before it was time for Nadia's nap, they were still working in Paul's office, and sometimes they were very loud. They were almost done with Paul's office when it was time for Ian's 3rd nap, but his crib was piled with the contents of the closet (since the access to the attic is located in his closet); so he took his 3rd nap in Nadia's crib. He took his 1st nap in his crib before they arrived at 9am, and he took his 2nd nap on our bed. Today when I told Nadia it was time for her nap she surprised me by saying, "take nap in the closet." At first my instinct was to say "no," but I hadn't taken down the pack and play yet, so I thought why not. I realized a little later while mowing with Ian in the Snugli that the only problem was I wouldn't be able to take a shower when I got done mowing, as that would wake her up. So I made do with a sponge bath of sorts. I was very grateful it was only in the high 60's when I mowed (compared to 90 degrees when I last mowed 10 days ago). I still worked up a sweat since I was carrying a 16 1/2 lb sleeping baby in the Snugli while I mowed!
Ian has learned a trick that Nadia never did. He has on multiple occasions over the past few weeks unhooked the strap that goes across his chest when he's in his carseat! Although the bottom part is still locked in place, I am sure it's not nearly as safe with the top part unfastened. You'd think they'd design a carseat in such a way that a 6 month old couldn't unhook it, LOL! He's obviously not trying to do it, but he just loves grabbing and pulling on things! I guess it means I need to switch him out of the infant carseat. Usually the kids are both in my car so we can just use both carseats in my car for now, but probably at some point we need to buy two more carseats so we can have two in each car. Ian's will be facing the opposite direction for another 5.5 months. I haven't been carrying Ian around too much in the carrier; so I guess it won't be a big deal to switch. It makes me feel a little sad though - one of those "he's growing up too fast" moments!
Last night Ian slept from 7:45pm to 3:10am and then from 3:45 to 6:00. His first stretch wasn't as long as the previous night, but his second stretch was longer. If he hadn't gone to bed later, he would have gotten about the same amount of total sleep. Nadia woke up at 3:00am and was crying. I asked Paul to go put her on the potty, and sure enough that was why she was crying. She went to the bathroom and then eventually fell back asleep. She got up at 7:30 this morning whereas lately she's been getting up at 6:30 so she made up for the sleep she lost by sleeping in later. She's been waking up dry every morning so I'm going to have her sleep in underwear for the first time tonight. Unforunately the same can't be said for her naps the last two days. I think sleeping in the closet may have been part of the problem though (since I couldn't hear her if she said potty) so hopefully when she naps in her crib tomorrow she'll stay dry during her nap.
