Leotard!

Last week I bought Nadia her first leotard. It seems I probably overpaid as at the yard sale last week they were listed for $8 each, and at a yard sale I stopped at this morning they were $3 each. I questioned it last week, but I was told that they were $40 new. Well today I learned they are $30 new at our gym, and $3 at a yard sale. Live and learn. The three leotards I've bought her are size "small." Size "extra small" would fit her better (if that size exists), but these will last longer (size 4-6). I also got her one dance skirt that would match 2 of the leotards in case I also sign her up for ballet at some point in the next couple of years. Two ther girls in her class have been wearing leotards to class, and given it was sweltering in the gym today I was glad that was all she was wearing. It has been in the 90's the past 5 days, which is VERY hot for PA, especially in May (or June 1st as the case may be). It's been GREAT weather for swimming though! When we went to the pool on Saturday they said the water temperature of the main pool was 68. Monday they said it was 76, and this morning it was 80! That's 12 degrees in 4 days!

Saturday the kiddie pool was much warmer than the main pool, but today the kiddie pool was much cooler as the had just filled it with clean water. Two years ago (beginning at age 10 months) Nadia loved her float. I've tried it 3 times over the past 5 days, and Ian hates it. He cries and reaches out for me to hold him. Last year we tried this with Nadia, but that didn't work. An innertube was what worked for her last summer. I got something like this at a yard sale last summer and tried it on Monday with Nadia. No dice. I just ordered this one, as recommended by a mom at the pool today. She got hers at Target, but Amazon saves me a trip and will get it here by Friday with free shipping. Hopefully this will work as it's hard for me to hold both children at the same time in the big pool, and Nadia prefers the big pool. Ian prefers the kiddie pool so we alternate back and forth between the two pools. Nadia had her first ever Freezer Pop today. Those are available at our pool at no charge. It was a good incentive to get her to leave the pool without crying!

My plan had been to go to the farmer's market, which is open year round on Wednesday's from 8am to 7pm. I've never been, and people tell me they get great meat, produce, cheese, baked goods made by local Amish and Mennonite ladies, etc. It's only a couple of minutes from the gym, and Nadia's gymnastics class is on Wednesdays. I have never been, and we've lived here since September 2008! My plan had been to go to the market and then to gymnastics and then to the swimming pool before lunch and naps.

Well we passed a few yard sales on our way to the Farmer's Market. It hit me later that probably a lot of people have their yard sale on Wednesdays in this town since so many people come from other towns for the farmer's market. I hadn't allowed enough time for both yard sales and the farmer's market, so we still haven't made it to the farmer's market. Hopefully we'll make it there next Wednesday! I did get some great books (25 cents each), 2 games, a beautiful dress for Nadia (size 5 so she won't be wearing it this year), and 2 leotards plus the dance skirt. We did go to the pool after gymnastics and then came home for a late lunch and nap time. Ian slept for 2 hours in my arms, which he hasn't done in a while. I wrote most of this post while he slept. Now it's time for me to switch gears because my neighbor called me this morning to say she wants to have our yard sales tomorrow, Friday, and Satutrday. I've never had a yard sale before. I am not sure how I'm going to supervise the yardsale while taking care of the kids. Thankfully it's supposed to be in the 70's (vs. the 90's) so hopefully they can play happily in the fenced in backyard in the morning. We also don't have any tables so I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to display the stuff. This might be my first and last yard sale, lol. We shall see. I bought price stickers and got change at the bank today. The next step is to haul the stuff up from the basement and start putting price tags on things.
