3.83 years old!

Two months from today Nadia will turn four years old. As has been the case in the past, she is attempting to age herself a bit prematurely and telling everyone she'll be turning five in June. Thank goodness that's not true! She's growing up fast enough as it is!

I've learned through sharing a bedroom with her the past 3+ weeks that she's not as good of a sleeper as I thought she was! A few nights she fell asleep pretty quickly, but many nights she was in bed for more than an hour before she fell asleep (unlike her brother who is asleep within a minute or two of being put in bed). She also woke up early many mornings. Last night she was awake from 11:45-1:45am. I wasn't happy about that as her coughing kept me up as well. She loves sharing a bedroom with me, but if I had to pick a child to share a bedroom with, I would definitely pick Ian. I'm glad though that I don't actually need to sleep with either of them. Paul is definitely my preferred roommate. :-) We shall see what happens to her naps when we get back home. She's only napped at the feeding clinic twice thus far.

Her thumb sucking habit has regressed a bit while we've been here. I definitely have to use the thumb guards with her again at some point during naps and bedtime, but hopefully we won't have to go back to having her wear them 24 hours a day. She also has regressed a little in that she had three (#2) accidents in her pants while we have been in Hershey. I have no doubt that will get back to normal once we're home as she hasn't been doing that for almost two years!

She is completely obsessed with the color pink and with princesses. She wants to wear ALL pink every day, which of course is not something I'm going to actually let her do. We have definitely gotten our money's worth out of the princess/prince figurines I bought for her. She plays with them for hours every day. Last night she took a bath for one hour (with those in the tub with her), and actually she didn't want to get out when I said it was time to get out! She lets Ian play with all the villians (how sweet of her, ha ha) such as Cinderella's stepsisters, the wicked queen in Snow White, Gaston, etc. She doesn't want to watch any movie unless it has a princess in it. I don't always go along with that rule. When I bought her some new books recently, she was disappointed that none of them had princesses in them. I don't mind that she likes princesses, but I will be glad when she backs off the obsession just a little bit as there are many other wonderful movies and books in this world that have nothing to do with princesses!

She's still our social butterfly. I can't tell you over the past 3+ weeks how many times a speech therapist, feeding therapist, etc. told me how amazed they were at the lengthy conversations she initiated with just about every adult and child in the feeding clinic. No one is a stranger to Nadia! She asks everyone their name and almost always gives them a compliment of some sort. Although she had her moments (ex. not wanting to share with Ian), she really was well behaved at the feeding clinic. She also did well with playing by herself at times (mainly with those princess figurines!).

She can identify all the uppercase and lowercase letters, and she's almost mastered learning at least one sound for each letter (I haven't introduced the concept yet that some letters are associated with more than one sound). Next I plan on helping her memorize a few of the Dolch sight words!
