Nadia and Ian received umbrellas at Christmas, and they have been *dying* to use them. I kept telling them (throughout the winter) that they needed to wait until the spring to use them. This is a rainy week (April showers bring May flowers, right?). Yesterday the boys and I spent about 90 minutes at a playground, but I didn't get to take a walk. Today I decided we'd take a walk after lunch, but I knew the playground equipment would be too wet. The kids are not fans of taking a walk just for the sake of walking. They see the walk as the means to a desirable end - the playground. I sold them on a walk today by suggesting they wear their rain boots so they could jump in some puddles. Even though it wasn't raining when we took our walk (although it started raining just as we were coming in an hour later), they were enjoying using their umbrellas. Oliver doesn't have an umbrella (finally I have an idea of something to get him for his birthday!), but I gave him a small black one to use so he wouldn't feel left out. Ian even wore a cute rain coat.
When we got home Oliver went down for his nap and fell asleep right away. What a relief! Tomorrow he'll probably be taking his nap in the van on the way home from Harrisburg.
Nadia has been making a lot of progress with her handstands, headstands, and cartwheels. I'll have to take some pictures or a video. I'm looking forward to seeing her first ever progress report in two weeks. They just started a new policy of writing up individual progress reports every eight weeks. Nadia and Ian have been having a lot of fun with the gymnastics mat during Oliver's nap (which has already exceeded two hours!).
