We had a busy day today that included yard sales, a workshop at Lowe's, slip and slide, and an inflatable. I also took Nadia and Ian to a rural heritage day event. I had taken Oliver and Ian to it last year when Nadia was driving back from Florida with Paul's parents. Today we went during Oliver's nap. Some of the exhibits were similar to ones we saw in Williamsburg (such as the cooper and blacksmith), but there were some that were different. The kids did the "rope walk" to make a rope. Nadia used some mortar on a wall, the kids held some three day old turkeys (I mistook them for chickens), Ian fed a sheep, Nadia made a corn husk doll, the kids had a ride in a pony cart (Ian laughed his head off when they went really fast at one point), and they both used a rifle for the first time in their lives. At first Ian said he wouldn't do it (because it was too loud), but after Nadia did it he then agreed to do it as well. We've had a lot of rain lately, but thankfully it was a very sunny day today for all our outside activities.
