Today we finished decorating our Christmas tree. Paul put up the lights, and I put up the ornaments. Paul found out at class today that his exam is at 8am on Monday. In light of that, the painting and other items on the to do list I created for him are going to have to wait. On Thursday Paul and I put the tree together. I was just sitting there unbending the branches. I guess there was a reason the tree was the price it was. I have seen other artificial trees that are MUCH easier to assemble. This 7.5' tree has 1,452 tips. So we had 1,452 tips to unbend as they had them all wrapped up around the poles. I don't think it will be as time consuming to assemble in future years, but it took the two of us hours to put it together. I guess it's a case of you pay for what you get. This tree was as full as some that were going for over $300. Paul said he wasn't sorry we got this one as he feels if we had paid $300 for a tree that we would have felt obligated to use it for a LONG time, and he wants to go back to getting a real tree once the kids are older.
Nadia still didn't enjoy the tree quite as much as we thought she would. I guess maybe that will happen next year when she's 2 years old. I put unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree, and she was taking them off and putting them on the floor OR sometimes she'd put them back by just resting them in the branches. I am thankful that our tree is up, my Christmas shopping is done, I am almost done wrapping presents, and the Christmas letters were mailed out earlier this week. I have the Christmas gifts on the dining room table as I don't think they'd remain wrapped up if I put them under the tree this year.
