This morning I put Ian in the swing and put Nadia in the jacuzzi tub while I took my shower. That seemed to work. Nadia's play food had been in the tub the last few months, but this morning I brought it down so she can use it with her new kitchen, and I put some of her new Christmas toys in the tub instead. I never thought I'd use a tub as a playpen, LOL! Although Paul isn't going to PSU today, he needs to get back to doing schoolwork today. So I need to figure out how to take care of an 18 month old and 2 week old by myself. It will be easier once my incision is totally healed. I don't think I'm going to attempt to take both of them out with me to the library though. I think I'll take Ian and see if Paul wouldn't mind watching Nadia for a little bit while I run a couple of quick errands. I really want something to read during all the middle of the night feedings. I also should probably go to the Post Office to mail the Christmas gifts to Chicago. My mom will probably come up next week as she hasn't held Ian yet; she can take the gifts for my other sister's family with her (the ones who are currently in Maryland). My mom is the only one from my family who has seen Ian, and no one from my family has held him yet. I am glad we only live about one hour from Paul's family. When I was growing up, we never lived near any of our extended family (grandparents, etc.). I am glad that Ian and Nadia get to see at least some of their extended family more often.
Last night during the first few hours that I was in bed Ian was waking up every hour, which meant I was getting at most 45 minutes of sleep in between feedings. Thankfully the time span stretched out during the last few feedings so I was able to get a little more sleep. He has been nursing really well lately though, which is a relief to me in light of how poorly he nursed on Saturday. I weighed him last night and the scale was fluctuating between 5lb 11oz and 5lb 11.5 oz; so that means he gained an ounce from Saturday morning through Sunday night. YAY! Hopefully he'll gain another ounce today.
This morning while Paul and Nadia took their morning naps, I started putting up the wallpaper border in between taking care of Ian. The project normally wouldn't take long, but it's more challenging while simultaneously caring for a 2 week old baby. Today I've also done 2 loads of laundry and made some tuna noodle casserole. I am amazed at how well I am functioning given how little sleep I've gotten the past 15 days. I knew to only attempt the wallpaper border while Nadia was napping. I plan to try to nap during Nadia's afternoon nap if Ian cooperates; so I doubt I will finish the border today. His room is really shaping up! I will post pictures later this week once Paul finishes hanging the wall decorations. I ordered a denim crib skirt yesterday on eBay as his crib looks rather bare without a bumper or skirt. I also ordered a table, 2 chairs, and a bookcase (in the shape of a dollhouse) for Nadia's room from Walmart. One area of her room (where the dormer window is) is totally empty right now since the glider and nightstand that were there are now in Ian's room. I think she'll like having a table and chairs that are her size.
