Six Frames

Paul and I decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. The first eight years of our marriage we got a fresh tree, but in 2009 we got an artificial one, which is somewhat ironic because there's a Christmas tree farm across from our house. Last year we bought a few decorations at Target after Christmas on clearance so Nadia and Ian enjoyed playing with some new ornaments and little Christmas stuffed animals. We also had purchased new stocking holders for the mantle. I had forgotten that I had bought six of them. I went back and forth in my mind last year, and finally decided it was better to buy six so we'd have one for our fourth child, if the FET was a success because it might be impossible to get another one that matched a couple of years down the road. That was the only thing I bought for our last baby. It was hard not to burst into tears as I unpacked that box today. Nonetheless, the five picture frame mantle holders look really nice on our mantle.

I love Christmas music, and it was a delight to watch the kids be so enthralled while we watched Frosty the Snowman. Nadia even put in one of my Christmas cd's (Stephen Curtis Chapman) which was a thrill to me as I do get weary of the Veggie Tales cd's. And of course I love dressing my kids in Christmas clothes!

Every day the kids say things that make me smile. Here are a few recent ones...

* at dinner tonight part of the cheese fell off of Ian's slice of pizza. He told me the peel came off. LOL!

* Oliver now says "quack quack" when he sees a picture of a duck. After the other four of us finished praying before bedtime this evening, Oliver said "amen." Way to go, Oliver!

*a couple of days ago Nadia told me she can't wait to meet Zipporah in Heaven some day. I wonder how many other people have made that statement (she was Moses' wife).

*a few weeks ago I made the mistake of asking Ian how old he thought I was. He told me 61. Oi vey. That is not something you should tell your mom when she's actually 41 years old.
