Slip and Slide

Oliver has been talking for WEEKS about the slip and slide at VBS. He remembers it from last year, which amazed me (since he was 3 years old at the time). Every day that he knew he was going to a VBS he'd ask if they were doing the slip and slide that night. I am ever so happy to report it finally took place last night. Hopefully it lived up to his very high expectations. I stayed from 6:00-6:45 so that I could help Oliver get dressed in dry clothes after the preschoolers had their turn on the slip and slide. I didn't stay to see the other two go down it because I had Bible study last night from 7-9pm at our church.

Yesterday I submitted my application for the certificate (in curriculum and instruction) that I am working to obtain. I was stunned at the end to see the fee was $200. I figured there would be a fee, but I assumed under $100. I have now spent $400 between the $120 test, $60 to IUP (where I earned my doctorate in curriculum and instruction), $200 to PDE, and $20 to ETS for the practice test that I used to study for the exam. This wasn't exactly in our budget, but I keep telling myself that it will save us a lot of money in the long run (provided this ends with me actually being granted a certificate). Now that so much money is involved, I will breathe a BIG sigh of relief when I see that I have been approved. My next step is to get a form signed by the 5 employers I had from 1992-2013 verifying I have at least 5 years of experience (I actually have 20 years of experience). I know in the grand scheme of things this is really unimportant, but still if you don't mind praying that it will all work out, I would greatly appreciate it because there are certainly plenty of other ways we'd rather spend $400 than on a test and application fees!
