In the last three days Nadia's vocabulary has exploded. She also has started repeating or at least attempting to repeat almost every word we ask her to say. I have given up on keeping track of what words she can say, but here are a few recent additions: cookie (she got a lot of positive reinforcement on this one at Millie's house as Grandma and others would give her a bite of a cookie every time she walked over to the dessert table, pointed, and said "cookie"), tiger, draw, read, grapes, ah choo, and yucky. She also has said a few two word combinations. She is moving from the holophrasic stage (when a child uses one word to convey a message such as when she says "up" as her way of asking us to pick her up) to the telegraphic stage (usually two words, one of which is usually a noun). Yesterday when I dropped something while she was sitting in her high chair she said "down uh oh." Another time when we were snuggling she said "baby awww." I often tell her she's my baby when I'm cuddling her. Paul said that one time he heard her say "I draw" when she was playing with her etch a sketch. I am dubious about that one. I have heard her say "draw" when she's using it, but most toddlers would say "me draw" before they'd say "I draw." It's a lot of fun to hear her using so many new words!!
Today wasn't really that great of a day. Nadia still isn't feeling well - runny nose, cough, off and on a low grade fever, and very fussy. The three of us have been up since 4:40am. We don't let her cry when she's coughing and feeling so lousy. She stayed in bed with us from 4:40-5:55. We kept the lights off, but she never fell asleep. Unfortunately her two naps were both super short (less than 30 minutes each) because her coughing would wake her up. She had another episode of chocking and spitting up phlegm today (this time in her crib). I also don't feel well, but my symptoms are sore throat, runny nose, headache, and a low grade fever off and on. Not getting enough sleep isn't helping either! On top of this, I have had some really painful cramping today. I spoke with the OB nurse this afternoon, and she thinks it's ligament pain. I hope that's the case. I really don't want to go in labor at 32 weeks. My next OB appt is scheduled for Monday morning. He has been seeing me every 4 weeks, but I expect that to dramatically change due to the gestational diabetes diagnosis as well as the fact as I'm now in the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy. We had planned to go to Hershey Park's Christmas Candylane tomorrow, but we'll be rescheduling due to Nadia not feeling well. On an unrelated note, I weighed Nadia today, and she's now up to 25 lbs! One good bit of news from today is that it was the first day that all four of my blood sugar numbers were good. YAY! Hopefully the same will be true many times in the future.
