Spotting

Today I'm officially 4 weeks pregnant (14dpo). Normally there has been some difference of opinion when switching from the RE to the OB for my EDD, but I don't think that will happen this time because the egg retrieval was on day 15 so it was what most folks consider a "normal" length cycle. It always cracked me up when they wanted to change my EDD based on an ultrasound or what was the first day of my cycle. There is NO doubt when fertilization occured. It happened in a laboratory for Pete's sake. You'd think they'd just go with the date of egg retrieval as the "ovulation" day. I did a hpt this morning. The test line was a little darker than it was on Monday. I didn't test yesterday, and I'm not going to test tomorrow in light of having the repeat Beta tomorrow. I looked back at my hCG numbers with Nadia, and it was around 400 at 19dpo which if you do the math backward (it's supposed to double every 48 hours), it would have been about 50 at 13dpo, which is what I was yesterday. My numbers were three times higher with Ian (and I had my hCG checked on the same days with him - 19dpo and 21dpo). I still think that probably more than one embryo implanted that time but that Ian was the only one who kept growing - as we only saw one sac at the first ultrasound. I really will be shocked if I am carrying twins this time. I really think we have one little bean. I have one hpt left, and I am planning to use that on Friday. I decided today to splurge and buy two more tests. Most people don't use 7 hpts for one pregnancy, but most people don't stare at MANY bfns for 5.5 years before their first sticky bfp.

The above paragraph was written before I had some spotting. First I just had a tiny bit of pink spotting. I called the RE, and the nurse said that it was probably from the Prometrium. That made me feel much better until I discovered some red blood an hour later. I called the nurse back, and she said it could mean I'm miscarrying, but it's not automatically bad news. It could be from implantation, or she said it's possible that both embryos tried to implant and only one is hanging on and the bleeding is from the second one. She said there's nothing they can do at this point. I questioned if maybe the Prometrium isn't as effective as the PIO shots, but she said that's not the case. I had planned to have my repeat Beta at 3pm tomorrow on my way to work, but she's suggesting it might be better to do it first thing in the morning since I had mine done around 8:45am on Tuesday. It means taking the kids with me (which wouldn't be the case at 3pm), and it adds an hour of driving time. I'm going to stay home from choir this evening. Please pray for this little one to hang on tight. I'm feeling really scared right now.

Thinking of you... crossing my fingers for multiplying numbers. I had a hemotoma with Evan and gushed blood and clots and everything ended up fine. I was convinced our pregnancy had ended and was shocked to see a heartbeat. Try to sleep tonight!! <>
