Two more bite the dust

Ian threw up again during the night in the bathroom on Tuesday night and didn't say anything. It was sweet of him to let us sleep, but of course it was more challenging to clean up the toilet, wall, floor, and trash can many hours later. Nadia definitely does a better job of not making a mess when she vomits. I thought at first I was just feeling queasy from cleaning up his mess, but then I discovered nope I have a mild form of the bug also including the fever that Nadia had. Ian and I were both feeling queasy yesterday, so we decided not to go to the Children's Museum for their last Homeschool Hangout (until they resume in the fall). The kids were going to program some robots today. I knew I wasn't up to it, and I didn't want to risk Ian throwing up again or spreading our germs with anyone else. The music pastor is on vacation this week so there wasn't any choir rehearsal last night. All I wanted to do yesterday was lie down or be in the bathroom, but moms don't get sick days. Even with Ibuprofen I couldn't get my temp under 100 degrees. It is also harder to handle other little
challenges (like the toilet flooding the bathroom again yesterday that we thought was fixed) when you feel really lousy physically.

Nadia's team had their first softball game of the season last night even though this Saturday is technically Opening Day. She missed the game because the kids had AWANA. Ian said one verse to and finished the extra credit book for first graders. Nadia said multiple verses (see video below) to finish her book. Next year I'll make sure she's going through it at a faster pace so she can also do the extra credit part. Next week they have their car races, and then AWANA is done until September. Usually Paul takes the kids to AWANA because I have choir, but I took them last night as he wasn't home from work yet. He dropped off their cars before picking them up at 8:00.

We had been planning to spend 3 1/2 hours at the Ephrata Cloister tomorrow, but I called and reschedule that trip to May 19. Oliver woke up at 2:00am as he had thrown up in bed. Right now he's napping on my lap as I sit on the couch. He never takes naps on my lap any more. He hasn't eaten yet today, and it's 3:30 in the afternoon. One upside of him throwing up at 2:00am was Paul was able to help me with the clean-up. Today is day seven in a row of at least one child throwing up every day, and all the other times I cleaned it up myself. I haven't been cooking much in part because various ones of us have been having zero appetite. I decided to make Paul one of his favorites today - split pea and ham soup. It's also something I really like, but I don't have my appetite back yet. However I discovered today that cooking with the crock pot is a VERY bad idea when you are feeling queasy. Hopefully I will remember this in the future as the aroma of any food is very unappealing right now. It's a super pretty day (high in the low 70's), and I wish we felt well enough to go out and enjoy it. Ian has soccer practice tonight, but I'll just drop him off because Oliver isn't up to staying at the soccer field today. I'm thankful that thus far Paul has escaped the bug and that Ian and Nadia
are over it. It's funny but the only time we pass a bug around our immediate family is after we've been with extended family. The last time all of us were sick was after Christmas we all had a stomach bug and now again after being in Chicago last week we have a stomach bug again.

The homeschool gym class starts up again tomorrow for a six week session before the summer break. I had thought we'd miss the class tomorrow, but now we can go since we rescheduled the field trip.

Hopefully we will all be feeling fine by Saturday. The boys have soccer games, and Nadia will have her first softball game that day!
