Guests from Uganda and Nepal

 Last night there were five kids sleeping at our house. Two boys from the Children of the World choir spent the night with us. After I fed them dinner, the five kids played flag football in our family room with a tiny football. It was already dark outside, which is why they played inside. Then they played Spot it, Uno, and Don't Break the Ice. The last game they played before it was time for baths and devotions was hide and seek. This morning I woke the boys up at 6:15 because we needed to leave at 7:00 to get them back to church. Their choir is

singing in both services this morning. We can't wait to hear them sing! Job is 9 years old and is from Uganda; his father is from Rwanda. Amrit is 10 years old and is from Nepal. We enjoyed learning about what languages they speak (they are both fluent in English), what pets they have, etc. They enjoyed meeting our two guinea pigs. As I drove them back this morning, Job said, "Your daughter looks like Uncle (meaning Paul), and Ian looks like you, Auntie." I agree, Job! They are taught to call their hosts Auntie and Uncle.

Speaking of flag football, yesterday Ian had his first "tackle" meaning he pulled the flag of a ball carrier when he was playing defense! Woohoo! I actually had given up hope of seeing any of our kids do that this season, but it happened in the next to last game. Ian played center for the first half, but thankfully he didn't play center for the entire second half, which meant he could be involved in the offense a little bit more. One time when he was playing center the QB threw the ball to him, but he didn't turn around quick enough to see the ball was coming his way.

Another time he was the distractor and acted like he had the ball when he didn't. Then the very next play he really did have the ball, and he ran for about nine yards! It looked like he was going to have a flag pulled near the line of scrimmage, but the other player didn't succeed in pulling his flag. Ian was beaming when he ran up the sideline with the ball. Thankfully I got a picture of that! Sadly when he pulled the guy's flag I didn't have my camera up to my face so I missed that. Ian was holding the flag very proudly. Nadia almost sacked the QB once. She forced him to release the ball, which resulted in an incomplete. Nadia also tried out to sing the National Anthem. She passed her try out and will be singing next week prior to the football game. The children's pastor said she could sing at all four games next week if she wanted to, but both games are at the same time next week so she'll just sing the Star Spangled Banner once.

He was NOT tackled here even though it looks like the boy pulled his flag.
