I believe it has been two years since the kids last took a gymnastics class. We had taken a break for two reasons. First, the classes are NOT cheap, especially when you are paying for three kids. Secondly, sometimes we just don't have time for it. Once I knew I was back to work, I knew we could afford gymnastics again. I didn't want to do it during flag football season, and when I saw that a gymnastics session started on October 23, I thought that was perfect timing, and I signed the three kids up. It seems in between when I did that and this week, they changed when the session started to October 16, and I didn't notice that until yesterday. I called the gymnastics center yesterday and asked if they could make up Monday's missed classes on Wednesday. They said we could. The boys had class from 4-5pm today. Normally they will attend a class on Mondays from 5:30-6:30. Nadia's class was from 5:00-6:30, but I took her out fifteen minutes early due to AWANA. Paul met us at the gym at 6:15 so I could drive to choir and he could drive the kids to AWANA. She will usually attend a class on Mondays from 6:30-8:00.
I almost signed her up for the 4:00-5:30 class on Mondays, but I figured dinner would be more difficult if we were there from 4:00-6:30. Paul is going to meet us there on Mondays and take the boys home so that Oliver isn't kept up past his bedtime, especially as I have to get them up early on Tuesday mornings. Nadia really wants to be promoted to Level 3. She's hoping at the end of this session they'll tell her she can move up to Level 3 the next time she takes gymnastics. Level 3 classes are two hours long so frankly I'm fine with her being in Level 2, but I will move her up if they tell me she's ready. I'm guessing we'll resume gymnastics in the spring. With ice skating lessons and basketball in January and February and part of March, I definitely don't want to do gymnastics those months. I worked on my Bible study during gymnastics today. I also snapped a few photos. I took them just sitting in my seat. This is the last session that the classes will be held in the gym where Nadia's gone since she was three. In January they're moving to the gym in the old High School, which is the same building where the new Children's Museum is located. This will mean a lot more parking and a lot more space in the gym. I can't wait to see it! All three kids had a great time. I look forward to seeing how their skills will progress over the next two months! It's Oliver's first time in a Level 1 class, and he did really well! Of the three kids Nadia has taken the most gymnastics classes (by far), and Oliver has taken the least (by far). Birth order definitely makes a difference in some things.
Originally I had planned to take the kids to the "old" Children's Museum to a homeschool hangout program today, but I changed my mind because #1 I drove to Bloomsburg on Monday for a faculty meeting, #2 I had a very long day yesterday because I took the kids to Bucknell University for a chemistry program last night, and #3 because of the make-up gymnastics classes today. I am trying really hard not to push myself too hard. That meant going to bed at 8:15 last night, for example. I did finish grading the Midterm exam I gave on Tuesday, which was a good feeling. I also set up a birding field trip for the kids on Friday morning, which also made me feel better about skipping the children's museum today. We're studying birds right now, and someone from a church is a birder. She's going to let us join her for a birding outing on Friday morning before gym class. If Maurice lived closer, he could do the same, but he lives in Texas.
