1. It's much easier to go through a surgery yourself than to have your child go through one. My heart felt like it was breaking when I put Ian in the nurse's arms so she could carry him to the OR. I used to think holding a two month old down for immunizations was hard....
2. It takes more than 2 days for all of the anesthesia to work it's way out of Ian's system. I can still hear it.
3. Nadia and Ian think a catheter is a fun toy.
4. I'm usually not overly squeamish. Seeing the digital pictures the surgeon took during the surgery didn't bother me. Putting bacitracin on the wounds makes me feel like I'm going to throw up.
5. Ian is too noisy to bring in the worship service, even if the sounds are happy ones. Bummer!
6. As awful as it was waiting for Ian to go from the OR to the 1st recovery room to the 2nd recovery room (about 2.75 hours total), once he was sleeping in my arms it felt like all was right with the world.
7. If your baby is constipated, when he finally goes he will scream with such intensity you will contemplate taking him to the ER (until you figure out what happened).

I am so glad everything went well. I know exactly how you felt. We have said that if Wyatt needs surgery again he will have to wait till he is 25. LOL
