Big Boy Bed!

Paul was very busy the past two days doing things around the house such as mowing, weed whacking, trimming shrubs, and setting up a twin size bed in Ian's room. The glider is now in our bedroom (until we move the office furniture down to the dining room). The crib is being stored in our closet. Mowing the lawn didn't take Paul very long because our kind neighbor (Alexis) had mowed most of the lawn while we were away. The only part Paul had to do was inside the fence because their riding mower doesn't fit inside our gates. I tried to give her $20 for mowing our lawn twice (the first time was while I was in Hershey), but she refused to accept the money (as did her mother and sister). We're going to miss them when the move to Oklahoma next month! It must have rained a lot while we were on vacation because all the flowers I planted in my flower beds are looking great. My roses are also still in bloom! This picture is just of on part of the rose bush.

Last night was Ian's first time sleeping in a big boy bed. That went very smoothly. He didn't fall out or try to get out on his own. Nadia only fell out one time, and it was after she had been sleeping in the twin size bed for a few weeks. I've been hoping his transition would be just as easy. I also had him sleep in underwear, but I put a diaper over the underwear so I wouldn't have a lot of laundry to do if he didn't make it through the night. His underwear (and diaper) were wet, and there was a tiny bit of poop in his underwear as well. I'm going to stick with this plan. When I potty trained Nadia I did day and night at the same time. Ian's been day time potty trained for almost 6 months, but it was only recently that he started waking up with a dry diaper from time to time. The amount of fluids he drinks in a day went down drastically last month at the feeding clinic. I told him that when you sleep in a big boy bed, you wear big boy underwear. If anyone else has tips for nighttime potty training, I'm all ears! I peeked in on him when I went to bed at 10:30pm, and he was sleeping right up beside the wall. That's also where I found him when he woke up at little before 7am this morning.

His first nap in his bed didn't go as smoothly in that it took him 25 minutes to fall asleep, and he was crying off and on during that time span. I can't say with 100% certainty it's because he was in a bed rather than the crib because he still cried from time to time when he was put down in his crib for a nap (that happened once in Grand Cayman for example). I put him down for his nap only in his underwear since it's pretty rare for him to have an accident during nap time these days. His nap was only 15 minutes long today - much shorter than usual. Hopefully it won't take long for him to go back to 45-60 minute naps.
