This morning I finally finished grading those lesson plans that had been hanging over my head. I only had a few left to grade when I went to bed at 9pm last night. This evening I'm giving a final exam, and I'm giving another on Thursday night. After I grade Thursday night's exams I'll get a couple of weeks off from grading (I already graded the exams I gave this evening). YAY! Friday night I'm hooding a graduate student at commencement, and then the spring semester will be done for me! I've had this student in several classes. She's forty-one years old and is currently eight months pregnant with her first baby (a girl).
Up until 5:30pm (when I had to leave to go proctor my exam), I had been home all day. The novelty of being home for that many hours in a row hasn't worn off yet. I still feel this smile coming over my face as I empty the dishwasher and sweep the kitchen floor. It feels SO good to be home! In addition to grading, I also spent a couple more hours straightening up and organizing today (our bedroom closet, emptying a drawer in a dresser so I have a place to put my maternity clothes, working some more on transforming the office into a nursery, etc.). I also ordered some materials for homeschooling next year from Sonlight, Handwriting without Tears, and My Father's World. I want to get organized ahead of time in light of the baby being due in September.
