O Christmas Tree

 

I bought Nadia a Christmas tree for her room from out neighbor's yard sale in 2011. It came with white lights, and she enjoyed having it in her room last December. Yesterday Paul found her putting stuffed animals and toys on the tree to decorate it (reminded him of the Curious George book where he decorates a tree in a children's hospital with x-rays and such). I promised her that we'd put ornaments on it this morning. I brought up some more from the basement, and she had a blast decorating. She was disappointed that I didn't have a spare star or angel for the top so she put one ornament on the very top. I decided I will buy her one at an after Christmas sale that she can use on her tree next year. Oliver is oblivious to Christmas, but he does enjoy looking at the lights on our large Christmas tree. I take him up to the tree a couple of times a day, and he is entranced. We made brownies today. Nadia is really looking forward to decorating sugar cookies on Saturday morning because we got out the decorations to make Christmas trees out of the brownies.

I let Ian eat his first brownie tonight even though it had egg in it. He loved it. He gradually warmed up to the lemon cookies I made yesterday, but he immediately liked the brownie, just like when he had his first taste of chocolate cake. As you can see from the pictures, we went to the park today! It was about 60 degrees out so we didn't even need winter coats (except I did put Oliver in his brown pram as usual). I was grateful for the exercise. Now I should sign off because Oliver decided to get up every 3-4 hours last night. I went to bed at 9:45pm and wasn't very happy when he got up at 11:15pm as usually the first (and only) feeding takes place sometime between 2-4am. I'm hoping last night was a fluke. I much prefer just getting up once during the night.
