1. Our neighbor agreed to bring Nadia home from Cubbies most Wednesday nights. Last night I took Nadia to Cubbies (it starts at 6:30) and then drove to our church for choir rehearsal (starts at 7:00pm). Paul was home with Ian and Oliver, and he put Ian to bed before Nadia was brought back home by the neighbor (her kids are also in AWANA). I love singing in the choir. The only downside is that my arms felt empty. I missed Oliver a lot. |

3. Tuesday night was a great night for Oliver. He slept 10 hours, was up for one hour, and then he slept another 90 minutes. Then for the first time ever, he had TWO good nights in a row. Last night he slept 10 hours, was up for 45 minutes, and then slept another 2 hours!Way to go, Oliver!!!!
4. Oliver had his 2nd Synagis shot yesterday. I am grateful the insurance is willing to pay for these as they cost over $2,300 each. I am also thankful that thus far Oliver has been very healthy! The nurse was very pleased with his weight. He was just under 7lbs when he had the shot last month, and yesterday he weighed 9lbs 2oz, which means he gained more than 2 pounds in 1 month! I know he'd weigh a lot less if I was strictly nursing him. It helps me feel a little better about the "hybrid" approach to feeding him.
5. I found a meal that both Nadia and Ian enjoy! I figured that I should start including more "kid friendly" meals in our dinner rotation. I haven't bought fish sticks in more than 10 years, but last night I served Paul talapia and the kids and I had fish sticks. We all had fries. I haven't served fries at home in more than 10 years either. I am quite confident I'll be serving this meal about once a month because both kids polished off their plates in less than 30 minutes. Nadia actually liked the fish sticks more than the fries! She ate about 6 fish sticks! Aside from tuna casseroles, she hadn't ever had any fish before. I thought she'd like the cheeseburger soup I made on Monday, but she wasn't keen on it.
6. We had a bouncer and walker with Nadia, and with Ian we also added a Bumbo seat and swing. I sold all four of those items in 2011 when I thought our family was complete, but then Paul changed his mind a few months later about ttc again (for which I am very grateful). I was hoping to pick up an exersaucer and/or bouncer at a yard sale so I wouldn't feel as badly about the fact I sold everything, but being in the hospital so much this summer limited my yard sale shopping. I have felt badly because I have been lying Oliver on the floor all the time (ex. on the bathroom floor when I have to go to the bathroom). I don't feel it is safe to leave Oliver in the gym if he is out of my sight because his siblings don't understand what could hurt him. A few weeks ago one of my aunts sent me $100 that she said was for my birthday gift as well as a baby gift. I decided to use $45 of that to buy an exersaucer for Oliver. It arrived on our front porch yesterday morning, and Paul assembled it yesterday afternoon. I am grateful to have another place to put Oliver when I can't hold him (ex. when I am putting something in the oven). Hopefully he'll really enjoy it over the next few months. He has been lasting in his gym for longer periods of time lately.
7. I'm grateful for the library. Yesterday we checked out some books, dvd's, and also for the first time some books on CD for Nadia to listen to in her room during Ian's nap.
8. The weather earlier this week was such a blessing. One doesn't expect temps in the 60's in December in Pennsylvania, but I'll take that any day of the week!
9. A university emailed Paul this morning and detailed the salary for the position (that starts in January) and asked if he is still interested. The salary was a bit lower than what we were hoping for, but I looked up the cost of living for that area, and it's much less than where we live now so we are fine with the salary. Hopefully this means he'll at least get called for an interview. It would be good experience to interview, and of course even better if they offered him a job.
