This photo was taken in Antigua showing Nadia enjoying one of her "toys." I am still at a loss what to get Nadia for her first bday. My mom said we should probably wait on the play kitchen until she's a little older which is probably true. So far I have only one idea of what to get her - Leap Frog's Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set. I am open to any suggestions!
Nadia now says "mama!" She hasn't said it in a way that I am sure she is trying to say my name, but I have heard her say it when she's babbling away. I don't think we have an accurate idea of how large her receptive vocabulary is, but I've seen glimpses when I give her instructions. For example, she was holding my shoe (about to put it in her mouth), and I said "put down Mommy's shoe," and she did! If I ask her if she wants milk and she cries, I tell her "show me with your hand" and she'll then do the sign for milk with her left hand. If she's coming down "her" step in an unsafe manner and I say "use your hands," she immediately puts her hands down on the floor. I think she understands more words than we realize!

Brianne's favorite thing has been a baby stroller w/ a doll in it. I think we bought her toy stroller for $10 and she was barely over 1 years old. She instantly started playing with it and to this day races through the house with it.
I second the baby stroller. Also, does she have the ride on toy that has the handle so a parent can push it, too? Those are a lot of fun.
Does she have any type of walker wagon? My boys had a Red Flyer walker wagon (they push it) that they all simply adored up until about a week ago when we finally had to throw it out. :(
The floor of the wagon had been missing for sometime and both wheels in the front came off (again) and they were *still* pushing that thing around the yard. It's great quality but we left it outside and the boys got their abuse (I mean use) out of it. I miss it!
Most def the best toy (most use) they ever had aside from their plasma cars.
BTW, congrats on your recent developments, yowza!!! HH!
