Ian's First Thanksgiving

Nadia's 2nd Thanksgiving (2009)
If Ian were normal when it came to eating, then he could actually enjoy some of the food today such as the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cranberry sauce. Maybe by Christmas he'll be eating some table food? I did give him green veggies (baby food) for the first time yesterday, and it went about as well as everything else I've tried to feed him thus far. I wish we didn't have to wait until he was almost 13 months old for him to see the feeding team.

Last Thanksgiving I wasn't able to fully enjoy the meal due to having gestational diabetes. I am glad that I can eat some pecan pie tomorrow without any concerns about my blood sugar. I am very grateful that the diabetes was temporary. Unless  it's because I'm pregnant again, I hope I never have diabetes again!

This morning I made some yeast bread. I'm bringing a loaf to Al & Millie's house today, and the other loaf will be for the turkey dinner I'm going to serve my parents and brother tomorrow. I tried a new recipe (cream cheese bread), and it didn't turn out well in terms of appearance, but it tastes okay. I won't be using that recipe again!

We had our first snow today! Yes, we had a white Thanksgiving, lol. I immediately realized that although I have snow boots for Nadia, I don't have snowsuits or mittens for either child, and I don't have boots for Ian. OOPS! I think my mom will remedy that. She LOVES snow (having grown up in Detroit).

Nadia's first Thanksgiving (2008)
Today I'm thankful for...

1. the Lord Jesus Christ - my Savior, Redeemer, and Friend.

2. Nadia, my sweet girl. At Thanksgiving 2007 I was so thankful to finally be pregnant. Today was Nadia's 3rd Thanksgiving. She ate more food last Thanksgiving. She's gotten pickier unfortunately. Her favorite food today was definitely the cranberry sauce. She takes after her Mommy as Daddy doesn't eat that, and I love it. :-)

3. Ian, my sweet boy. I had no idea last Thanksgiving that I'd be giving birth in about two weeks (since he wasn't due until January 20). I am also grateful that my desire to nurse him for one year looks like it will come true, albeit I've only been nursing him once a day the past three months.

4. our families. It's always wonderful to spend time with our parents, siblings, their spouses, nieces, and nephews. I'm grateful we only live about an hour from Paul's family, and I'm glad that my parents are close enough to be able to come up for special events.

Now that Uncle Al and Aunt Millie are Grandparents there are lots of toys for Ian and Nadia at their house!

Wish we could get snow. It is so warm outside I could wear shorts.
