Both kids are in the new words stage. It's so much fun! Ian finally has grasped the concept of repeating a word. I was beginning to wonder when that would happen! He's also enjoying how happy Mommy gets when he says a new word. Every time I change his diaper he touches the wall and says "wall" and then points up at the boat hanging on the wall and says "bo" (his way of saying boat). He beams when I praise him. Paul says he says "Ma" when I leave him (such as go upstairs) so it seems he does say my name; he just doesn't say it when I'm around. I have heard him say something that sounded very close to Olivia (when he was holding the stuffed animal that looks like Olivia the pig) and George when he was holding Curious George. Yesterday when he fell down he said "fall." Every day he says a few new words. His vocabulary exceeds 50 words now. Nadia has been talking for awhile, but she still surprises us with new words. For example, last night she used the word "tragedy," and today she used the word "definitely." She almost always uses new words in the correct context. Another thing that cracks us up is when she says she doesn't want to do xyz right now, but she'll do it at three thirty. LOL! Evidently 3:30 is her favorite time of day. You just never know what random thing she's going to say. A couple of days ago as we were driving to the swimming pool she said (out of the blue), "We have a car not a camel." Indeed! I asked her why she was thinking about camels, and she said because of Abraham. There you have it.
I can't say that I'm adding many new words to my vocabulary these days, but I did get a new bracelet last night! Paul had bought me a white gold necklace on Wednesday. He gave it to me Thursday morning for our anniversary. He must like getting that length/type of necklace as he had gotten me one in December 2001 also. I really don't need two white gold necklaces (identical length) plus I liked the style of the one he got me in 2001 better. What I was really hoping for was a 50mm lens for my camera, but since he got me a necklace I decided to look around the jewelry store to see if something else caught my eye. I haven't gone jewelry shopping since December 2008. It was fun to browse a little. I truly didn't have anything in mind, but I fell in love with a sapphire/white gold bracelet. It was the same cost as the necklace, but it ended up being a little more because we got the lifetime warranty for the bracelet as I have broken many bracelets over the years. I don't buy warranties very often, but I do think this was the right move. I am wearing my sapphire ring (that he got me for Christmas in 2008) and my new bracelet. I think it's gorgeous!!! In fact, I think of all my bracelets, it's my favorite. Paul used part of his gift card to buy a ratchet and socket set.
