Renee

A couple of weeks ago I started working on teaching Nadia her Mommy and Daddy's full names (first, middle, last). She's known hers and Ian's for quite awhile. If I ask her to say Ian's full name she always immediately asks "Is he having a bad day?" after saying his name. I am sure this is in reference to Ian's middle name (Alexander) in light of the book, Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. At first when I'd ask her what is Daddy's name, she'd make his middle name Renee. I think she did that because she and I share that middle name. It cracked me up! Now she says his correct middle name (Earl). Of course now I've had to remind her a few times that she calls me Mommy (not Ruth), but it still seemed like an important bit of information for her to memorize. She also now can say the name of our street (or Lane in our case), city, state, and continent. She also can sing a song that includes the names of all 7 continents (thanks to library storytime). She can tell you what season we're in and what month it is. I'm excited about starting a more formal preschool curriculum with her in about a month or so.
I love this picture because they were both laughing their heads off . It was a sweet moment!
