1. Nadia has made a lot of progress with her puzzle skills over the past month. She can now do small jigsaw puzzles on her own (12 pieces), and she's getting so she doesn't need too much help with slightly bigger ones (24 pieces).
2. Her Bible is still her favorite book by far. We read from it many times a day. In addition to the stories that have been her favorites for a long time (ex. Jonah), she has wanted us to read the following on a daily basis recently: Balaam, Mary (when she puts the perfume on Jesus' feet), Zaccheaus, Joseph (coat of many colors), Jesus with the children, and Moses (burning bush and the ten commandments in particular). Unfortunately one of her favorite Bible stories She can't wait to see Jonah at Sight and Sound in Lancaster in 7 months.
3. She loves to watch VeggieTales. When it comes to tv shows her current favorites are Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, Max and Ruby, and Little Bear (all on Nick Jr. ). I've started having her watch WordWorld (PBS) to see if that will help her learn her letters.
4. Aside from the Bible, her favorite authors/books at the moment are Mercer Mayer, Eric Carle, The Giving Tree (Shel Silverstein), Dave Ramsey (Life Lessons with Junior series), Ludwig Bemelmans (Madeline), Robert Munsch, Jane O'Connor (Fancy Nancy), Rosemary Wells (Max and Ruby), and H.A. and Margaret Ray (Curious George).
5. She was on a kick for part of the last month of eating oatmeal for breakfast every day. For the longest time she had been eating cold cereal every morning.
6. She's had a couple of accidents lately after going many months without any. She has had them in the bathroom. She seems to wait just a tad too long sometimes to get herself to the bathroom. She goes on average three times a day. I don't know how she does it.
7. She likes to take Ian's hand and lead him around the house. He's not always a willing participant.
8. She learned in the past month how to put a clean pair of underwear on all by herself. She's been taking her dirty underwear off and putting it in the hamper for many months, but she just recently learned how to put them on herself. She still hasn't mastered putting on her own socks (although again she's been taking them off herself for months).
9. She's also getting more independent with putting on her own shoes, but sometimes she still needs help in knowing which shoe goes on which foot.
10. She still doesn't play independently very well when we're on the main floor of the house, but she is now playing by herself in her room for longer periods of time. Way to go, Nadia!
11. She's started asking me questions like "is there a baby in your belly, Mommy?" She has told me many times she wants a sister. I told her that if the Lord gives her a sister, we're going to call her Debbie. She said, "We'll call the baby Aunt Debbie?" It's very confusing to her that two people might have the same name. Just like she couldn't understand that the restaurant was called Wendy's. She thought for sure we were headed to Aunt Wendy's house. Once I asked her how many more babies she thought I should have, and she said three more. I asked if any should be brothers, and she said no she wants three sisters. Well it would be wonderful if the Lord gave her one sister, but I don't think at the age of 39 that I'll be having three more babies. Paul will have a stroke if the next round of ivf results in me carrying triplets! I will say it's exciting to think that maybe Nadia will get to share in the excitement of a pregnancy - feeling the baby kick, etc. She was too little to have any notion what was happening when I was pregnant with Ian. It would be totally different this time around if this next round of ivf results in a pregnancy.
12. She thinks about spiritual matters all throughout the day. For example while playing with Play-Doh she asked me to "make God" (out of Play-doh). I told her that was impossible. Then she asked me to make a Jesus out of Play-doh. I told her my skills are limited to things like snowmen, a cross, snakes, etc.. Daddy did make her Jonah and a whale once out of Play-doh.
13. She's starting to want to walk more than sit in the double strollers. Sometimes though she gets tired and just wants to ride in the stroller. Other times due to safety reasons I insist she rides.
14. She often says "I'm a mommy." When I ask her who her children are, she tells me Sweetpea and Larry. She tells me hold old each of them are, and their age always involes a half (ex. 4 1/2). When she goes to bed at night, she makes sure that Larry and Sweetpea each have their head on a small pillow and have a blanket on them. It's so cute!
15. She has her first imaginary friend. His name is Winston. I'm still trying to figure out where she heard that name, lol! One thing that her imaginary friend does is give her (imaginary) pieces of gum. Supposedly she's been to Winston's house. LOL! For the record, I've never let her have a piece of gum.
16. She wants to wear her Snow White costume All The Time along with a tiara. She says that she's "Queen Esther." It's fun to see her get into role playing (as either a mommy or Queen Esther). Sometimes she says "I'm a baby," but she just says that when she is about to suck her thumb.
17. She's become almost 100% independent with going to the bathroom. The only time she needs help is if she's wearing pants that have a snap and zipper in the front. She can't undo the snap herself.
19. She's recently started hitting and shoving Ian. Thankfully she doesn't actually hurt him, but I'm working on teaching her that hitting and shoving are unacceptable.
20. She always used to eat breakfast within a few minutes of waking up. Now she likes to play for awhile before eating. This is possible on days we don't have a morning commitment (like gymnastics).
21. If she's not happy with me (particularly after I've doled out some sort of negative consquence), she sometimes "hisses" at me. It's so hard not to laugh. She does it as if it's some how hurting me. I then talk with her about how hissing at someone is unacceptable, but inside I'm laughing as she looks so funny when she hisses with this scowl on her face. If looks could kill....

39. Generally, she wants to please me

41. Her prayers and how she thanks God for things like curtains (which I've never mentioned in a prayer)
