3.66 years old

1. I forgot to mention last month that Nadia has often been speaking of herself in the third person. It cracks me up. For example when working on her alphabet flash cards she'll say "C she shouted" after she says the letter "C" with enthusiasm.

2. I also forgot to mention last month that she has been assigning roles to all her stuffed animals - this teddy bear is a grandma, this other one is the Mommy, this one is the Daddy, etc. It's confusing for me because she asks me to go get "Grandpa," and as I look at the stuffed animals I have NO idea which one she's referring to.
3. This past month was the month of the thumb guard. They came off this morning, and thus far I haven't seen her sucking her thumbs at all. If she starts sucking her thumb again, I'll be putting the guards back on.

4. She now knows all her capital letters and also numbers 1-5! Way to go, Nadia!

5. Shampooing hair became easier over the past month as I learned that if she is in charge of dumping the water over her head to get her hair wet and then rinse out the shampoo, she doesn't cry! What an easy solution!

6. Over this past month she has continued to include Uncle Maurice in all her prayers, but she has also added Susie and Aunt Wendy to the list. Those names (in addition to Mommy and Daddy) are included in every prayer, and it varies whom else she includes (ex. Grandma, Grandpa, Ian, the baby, etc.).

7. She feeds herself everything but vegetables. Vegetables don't require too much of a fight as long as someone else feeds her and there are some raisins included in each bite.

8. I put a stool in the bathroom over the past month, and she has loved being able to wash her hands and face herself.

9. She's not very particular about what clothing I pick out for her each day, but she is picky about her socks. She wants to wear pink socks Every Single Day. If she can't wear pink, her second choice would be her Curious George socks.

10. She gave up her nap over the past month. Nap time has become room time. It's funny to listen to her on the monitor. She has quite an imagination! The nap went away because of the thumb guards.

11. We recently went back to having her go to sleep in a dark room because leaving Paul's office light on resulted in her staying up way too late many nights, especially considering she recently gave up her nap.

12. Ironically, she is the one who objects about me going to work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Fridays (whereas Ian used to be the one with the separation issues).

13. She's now doing 100 piece puzzles every day. She can't do that size by herself yet, but I imagine that might change over the next month. She can do up to 48 piece puzzles by herself.

14. I started reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle to her, but it didn't capture her attention like Charlotte's Web. I'll have to try to find another chapter book to read to her.

15. Some of her favorite picture books lately have included Winnie the Pooh, Bread and Jam for Frances (and other titles in that series), and many of Kevin Henkes' books.

16. She loves to be my helper. She enjoys doing things like setting the table for dinner and helping put books back on the bookshelf after Ian takes them all off.

17. She loves everything that relates to princesses (Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty in particular).
