Eight Weeks

According to my ticker, our little one is about one inch long and his/her earlobes are now visible. My ultrasound was originally scheduled for today. Part of me wishes I had kept my original appointment, but it's really not worth the extra hour on the road. Plus if I went today I'd have the kids with me. Tomorrow I'm going en route to school, and Beth will be watching the kids. I only wish Paul could be there. It will be soooooooooooo wonderful to see that baby is doing just fine and to have confirmation that yes indeed I'm only carrying one baby (since we transferred two there's still a chance I'm carrying twins). It's amazing how someone who is only one inch long can create such havoc in someone else who is 67 inches long.
I tried to go to bed early last night, but I actually was up later than usual because Miss Nadia had a royal fit (which lasted more than an hour) after Paul turned off the light in his office at 9:15. At one point she was standing up on her piano bench. I have no idea why, but for now we're going to leave that out of her room as I don't want her to injure herself. I removed quite a few of the stuffed animals from her room this morning, as she's taken to putting them ALL on her bed, which literally hardly leaves any room for her body. I let her pick about ten of them to keep in her room so that if she choose to put them ALL in her bed it won't be a ridiculous amount. Also, we've decided not to leave Paul's office light on any more when she goes to bed. We will probably have a battle over that tonight, but we decided in the long run it will create fewer bedtime battles and help her go to sleep more quickly if we go back to putting her to bed in the dark, which was the case for most of her life to this point. Since she just recently gave up her 2-3 hour nap, she really can't afford to get only 8 hours of sleep at night. If these two strategies don't do the trick, we're going to also move her bedtime up earlier. One way or the other we want her to get more sleep at night.

Because Ian only had 8 ounces of EleCare from 1pm until he went to bed at 8pm, he woke up at 6am. I was expecting it (in contrast I gave him 56 ounces from 7am to 1pm yesterday), but it still was unpleasant because it meant I only got 7 hours of sleep last night, and I've been getting at least 9 hours of sleep on the nights that I teach (and I taught yesterday). I'm exhausted at the moment. I'm evidently not the only one who is tired because Ian fell asleep in the car at 10:40 on the way home from gymnastics and the library. Thankfully his 5 minute nap in the car didn't make it impossible for him to have a nap in his crib this afternoon. Neither child had a nap or quiet time yesterday because Beth came early. On a day like today, I would give my right arm if Ian would take a nap longer than 30 minutes. I. Am. So. Tired. I would pay someone to watch the kids just so I could take a nap! The bright side is that the weather is really nice (in the low 50's) so after I deem Nadia's quiet time to be over, we're headed to the park. Hopefully the fresh air will wake me up.
