Yesterday I filled a shallow wooden box with salt so that Nadia could practice writing her letters in the salt. She really enjoyed doing that yesterday and today. The letters she could do well without my assistance were "C" and "O." This activity would fit in well in a Montessori school. Yesterday I also started reading Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary to the kids. She also begged me yesterday to give her schoolwork for Gingerbread Baby (also by Jan Brett). Thankfully I was quickly able to find a few things and print them off for her. Another book she also loves (by the same author) is The Three Snow Bears. We might be doing a Jan Brett unit before moving on to another title. This is one of the perks of homeschooling. I can easily follow an emergent curriculum!
The Elecare I purchased on eBay on Thursday night arrived this morning. I was thrilled because the seller lives in California. When Ian is eating some solid food, he usually goes through a can of Elecare every 2.5 days. I haven't given him any solid food since lunch on Saturday. I also started him back on Singulair yesterday. I really, really want his esophagitis to be in remission before he's admitted to Hershey. I called Karen (OT), and she suggested reintroducing solid foods this Saturday. He drank seemingly a million sippy cups of Elecare mixed with some Vanilla almond milk. I think he's making up for lost time since he didn't consume much over the previous week. All day long he kept saying "more milk."

Do you give Ian probiotics? I swear it makes a huge difference when the kids are having stomach problems. I wish I had some back when Brianne and Tyler were little. My dr recommended it when the twins were infants and were taking antibiotics. For my 2 it made them stop having diarrhea in one day. Wyatt has went from throwing up 4-5 times a day to 2-3. We still need to find out why he is throwing up though. Our speech therapist even asked if we had tried it. The one for infants (liquid) is called BioGaia, and their web site is www.biogaia.com. The children's chewable had a trace of milk protein, but I do not see it in the liquid for infants. I have found it at every place I have went to purchase it... Walmart, Target, Walgreens.... Ask the pharmacist for it bc it has to be refrigerated. It is about $30 a bottle but well worth it. The next time they say to try milk again tell them to stuff it. I would think that it would take more than a year and certainly more than a few month to over come a milk allergy. I can't believe they even wanted you to try it again so soon. I listen to everything the doctor suggest, and I use about 25% of what they say. Having worked in the medical field for 17+ yrs has opened my eyes...
