It turns out I probably could have weighed Oliver on Tuesday after all! I wanted to wait three extra days to ensure he weighed at least 8lbs. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw he weighed 8lb 5.5 oz this morning with only a dry diaper on! What a growth spurt! I guess I should have seen this coming given how much he's consuming lately. I checked, and this puts him at 0.1 percentile (for his chronological not adjusted age). I'm excited he's finally (just barely) on the growth chart! The other good news is that he's been completely off the shield for a full 24 hours now. I have put them away. We are done using a shield when nursing! The downside is that he's drinking quite a bit of formula these days. Trying not to let it bother me. We are almost out of the free samples. I need to run to Walmart tomorrow to buy some. Hopefully I can do it without crying. I didn't dare go to Walmart today for formula since it's "Black Friday." I steer clear of stores on this day! Actually the only purchase I made today was to buy an ebook - Truth in the Tinsel which I plan on doing with the kids this December.
Last night was a good night, which was a big relief as the previous night was awful. Last night Oliver slept 5.5 hours, was up for one hour (an improvement), and then slept for 3.5 hours. I went to bed an hour after he did so I still managed to get at least 7 hours of sleep, which was more than I had gotten in several days. Oliver continued to be on a good roll with sleeping in his crib today. Until today the only day he had taken a nap in his crib was Monday. He didn't on Sunday because of church and yesterday because we were at Paul's parents' house. Tuesday and Wednesday I tried a zillion times and ended up letting him sleep in my arms. Monday he just had one nap in his crib. Today he actually took two naps. The first was from 10:30-1:15 and the second was from 4:45-5:45. I love holding Oliver, but I have to say I love it when he naps in his crib. Ian also didn't get up until 7:00 this morning. Woohoo! It didn't help me because Oliver started his day at 6:00am, but I was still encouraged that maybe Ian is shifting forward. Some days Oliver sleeps later than 6:00am, and on those days I will greatly appreciate it if Ian doesn't get up before 7:00am.
The kids were very excited today because we brought up some of the Christmas decorations (not the tree). I also brought up our stash of Christmas books, CDs, and DVDs. They had a blast reading "new" books, watching Frosty the Snowman on DVD, and listening to Christmas music. Earlier this week I started letting Nadia have a CD player in her bedroom so she could listen to books on CD (ex. Curious George, an anthology of fairy tales, etc.) during her room time while her brothers nap. She loves it! Today I also put the CD player in the family room within her reach (it had been on the mantle). She loved being able to put different CDs in. I am teaching her what is a good volume to keep the CD player set at. I definitely developed a headache between the music being too loud at times, her playing one particular song a zillion times, and Ian turning on the music on the snow globes all day long. I don't often take Tylenol, but I did this evening. I sound like an old person, don't I? Yikes. I think we'll be decorating the tree tomorrow. It's fun to have the kids so excited about Christmas this year!
