Thankful Thursday

1. Oliver continues to gain weight at a good pace. This Tuesday he weighed 7lb 7oz, which meant he had gained 5.5 oz in 6 days. I think he'll hit 8 pounds on Black Friday. He's still off the growth chart though. If I go by his corrected age he's at the 3rd percentile, but if I go by his chronological age, he's far below zero percentile. I wonder how many months it will take him to get up to one percentile? I keep reminding myself that he weighed 4 lbs when he was 1 month old. Newborn clothes do fit him now, and since I've gotten better about taking pictures of him lately, I haven't been leaving him in sleepers all day any more.

2. It's fun having people be so excited to see Oliver. Yesterday we stopped in at the library to check out some books on Thanksgiving even though there wasn't a story time (it will resume on the 28th). The librarians were asking to see him. The first time he was there they pronounced him the smallest baby to ever enter their library.

3. Cheri went with us to gymnastics yesterday. That enabled me to take pictures more easily (as she held Oliver during the lesson) as well as quickly run in to the Pediatrician's office and Walmart while the kids were in the van with her (to pick up some paperwork and buy ink catridges for our printer).

4. Ian had FUN finger painting today!!! When I tried it a few months ago, he wanted nothing to do with it, but with the OTs today, he loved it. Now if I could get their hands back to normal. Their hands are still yellow. He only has two OT sessions left before he turns three and is too old for EI.

5. Ian woke up dry the past 5 mornings! If he wakes up in the night (ex. 3:30am today), Paul takes him to the bathroom. Nadia never needed to go during the night when she was his age, but he drinks more than she ever has. Paul and I go to the bathroom during the night, and we aren't in bed nearly as many hours as Ian so it makes sense he can't go 11 hours without using the bathroom. Now if we could just shift his body clock forward 30 minutes as he is now programmed to wake up at 6:30am every morning.

6. Oliver had a better night last night. Monday and Tuesday night were not good nights because the longest stretch he had either night was 3 hours. Last night he went back to what had been his norm. He slept for 6 hours, was up for 90 minutes, and then slept for 3 hours.

7. I received two "freebies" in the mail today. One contained ten 5x7 folded Christmas cards that I paid not one penny for. Usually the best deal I can get is that I have to pay shipping (around $6), but these were totally free from Cardstore. The second was from Sears portrait. I stacked four coupon codes, which enabled me to receive for free (not even paying shipping) two 10x13's, two 5x7's, and 16 wallets. I love bargains, but freebies are the best!

8. Before the hospitalizations began on May 30, I had pinned some recipes on Pinterest that I wanted to try. I was unable to access Pinterest in the hospital, and of course I wasn't cooking while on bedrest (except I made Nadia pancakes for her birthday breakfast). Within the last week I finally went back to that recipe board I had made, and I decided to start trying some of them. I tried one today, and it was REALLY good. To make things better it's REALLY easy and contains ingredients I pretty much always have on hand especially since I can get boneless chicken breast much cheaper than ground beef. It's always exciting to find a new recipe that we enjoy that is simple. I'll be making this once a month.
