Eric Carle

Nadia is going on a date with her Daddy tomorrow night. I feel a wee bit jealous because it will be her second date with Daddy since we came home from the hospital, and I have yet to go on a date with him since May. I can't be too jealous since I'm the one who bought the tickets for them and planned the outing, ha ha! I'll just have to schedule a date with my hubby in the near future! His to do list is a lot shorter now that he submitted his rough draft to his advisor last Tuesday, submitted his article to Analytical Chemistry last Monday, and got caught up on submitting applications. He's submitted thirteen thus far. There hadn't been any new ones lately, but today another one (in PA) came up that he will complete in the next month. Now we are in suspense on all three accounts. His advisor is confident his article will be accepted for publication, but we were anxiously awaiting his advisor's feedback on his dissertation and also waiting to see if any of the schools would want to interview Paul. Today his advisor gave him feedback on chapters 2-5. He finished making the revisions on one of those chapters today. She hasn't given her feedback on chapters 1 or 6 yet.

Nadia and Paul are going to see a 60 minute puppet show based on Papa, please get the moon for me, Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see, and The very hungry caterpillar. We have all three of those books, and as you can see from the video I posted last week, the brown bear (aka "purple cat") book is one of Ian's favorites. Nadia's favorite Eric Carle books continue to be Walter the Baker and Pancakes, Pancakes (the book she's reading in the above picture). Another of Ian's favorites is The greedy python. Hopefully they will have a special time together!

Ian, Nadia, and I all had the same thing for dinner tonight (a very rare occurance) - barbecued chicken (that I made in the crock pot), roasted potatoes, green beans, and applesauce (I didn't have the applesauce). The meal took less than 30 minutes. Wow. I did feed Ian, but considering two of the foods were brand new to him, and he doesn't like green beans, that was a success in my book. Nadia loved the potatoes. She's doing far better with vegetables. She can now eat green beans, carrots, and peas without any complaints as long as I give her some raisins that she combines with the veggies. Yay for progress!!!!
