Children's Museum

Nadia and Ian both experienced a first today - their first trip to a museum. Well Nadia went with us to a few museums in Antigua last May, but this was her first time going to one geared for children. It's free for those under the age of 2 and is located in the same town as the university where I teach. I had asked Paul's parents if they could meet us as I had scheduled a peer observation for 1pm and had a faculty meeting at 2pm. We met at a McD's inside a Walmart. Since I forgot to bring my pump (remembered while we were on our way there), I nursed Ian in the McD's to lessen the time I'd go without nursing or pumping a little. After eating and doing a little shopping, Paul's parents drove the kids in my car to the Children's Museum and I took their car first to a furniture store to pick up the ottoman that we had ordered for our glider (that's in Ian's room) and then to the university. I left a little before the faculty meeting was over and picked up the kids at the museum. They had been there about 3 hours. Paul's dad went around the museum with Nadia, and Paul's mom took care of Ian. It seemed like Nadia really enjoyed herself. If we lived closer I would definitely get an annual membership and go on a regular basis. When I arrived Nadia was petting a salamander.

When I called Paul around 7am he said his goal was to submit his paper by 3pm and then head home as he was very tired as he got very little sleep last night. When I called him at 5pm he hadn't finished the paper or left his office yet. Have I mentioned he's a procrastinator? I'm really, really tired. I'm hoping Ian lets me get a decent amount of sleep tonight. Neither of them got much sleep today. They both slept in the car (about 1 hour total), and Ian also slept about 20 minutes in his Grandma's arms. That's far less sleep than either of them usually get during the day. Nadia was really fragile when we came home. The neighbor girls came over and volunteered to push Nadia on the swing, but she kept crying for Mommy. I was nursing Ian. I am a pretty good multitasker, but I can't do those two things simultaneously. I was wishing I could hit a fast forward button until it was time to put them to bed. I would have enjoyed visiting the museum with Nadia, but I'm glad she got to do this with her grandparents. I am very excited about taking her to Reptiland and Knoebel's Amusement Park in the near future.
