Nadia opened a few presents last Thursday (one from us, one from her Great Gram, and three from my parents), but she opened the majority of her presents yesterday morning. I was beginning to wonder if there would be time to open them before she left for church because she slept in later than usual yesterday. Her two favorite presents (that she opened yesterday anyhow) were the Zoe stuffed animal and the book of fairy tales. Ian definitely liked Hungry Hungry Hippos the best. He played with it for more than three hours yesterday! I violated my "bedrest" orders a little bit yesterday to make her pancakes for breakfast. I hadn't cooked anything in 25 days, and I really wanted to do something to make her day extra special. Gabby, Alexis, and Beth came over and wished her a happy birthday and gave her lots of hugs and kisses. They gave her a Princess vanity for her bedroom last week. Paul took the kids to the "Family Fun Festival" at church in the afternoon. She loved throwing a water balloon at Daddy! I think she had a great birthday!
This morning the ultrasound showed the anemia was back in the severe category (although still not quite as bad as it was on Thursday). We came prepared. I brought a suitcase just in case, and we also packed a bag for the kids so they could spend tonight at Paul's parents' house (so Paul can get some schoolwork done today and tomorrow). I won't be allowed to eat after 4am. If I wake up, I might have a midnight snack as I'm going to be VERY hungry by the time 2:15pm rolls around. I'll have an epidural for the procedure (that will be my first epidural even though I asked for one when I was in labor with Nadia), but the procedure can trigger labor. I'm not allowed to eat in case they end up doing an emergency c-section. Please pray that doesn't happen! I would ask Paul to be here if the hospital wasn't so far away. If all goes well, I'll be discharged Wednesday afternoon. This time I was admitted directly to the 8th floor (antepartum unit). The last two times I started on the 8th floor (Labor and Delivery) and then was moved up a floor the next day. The room I'm in this time isn't as nice as the first room, but it's much nicer than the second room.
I told the doctor we were committed to sticking with this hospital for my prenatal care, but I asked if I could deliver at Geisinger if the baby didn't come at a scheduled time. He said it's impossible for my water to break because of the complete placenta previa. I didn't know that! He said if I start bleeding again, I should definitely go to Geisinger. He also said that the farthest into the pregnancy they'll do a transfusion is about 32w. If the baby needs a transfusion after that, they'll just deliver him instead.

Having been in your shoes x2 if the baby comes too early please don't ask them to transfer him until there is NO chance of a head bleed. Some believe that transferring the baby can cause a head bleed. We were blessed that Wyatt only had a grade 1 since he was transferred at day 5. He was transferred 1.5 hours away for NEC surgery which made him 2 hours away from Bailey. They left Bailey as long as they could at the 1st hospital. At nearly 2 weeks they transferred her because they needed to change her to the oscillator because of her lungs being so bad. That is another thing to think about. Not all NICUs are equipped with the oscillator and ECMO. Do they do neonatal surgeries at the hospital you are at?
